Mermish
While many of the merfolk speak common, they also have their own native language spoken amongst their kind, taught from a very early age. It is a series of clicks and 'tacs' to any other ear, but sounds different and is understood by kin or any other creature in a merfolk form.
You can just say in your post "He/she spoke in Mermish" or something of the sort before your line, but if you'd like to take it up a notch, here's a link to Mermish vocabulary!
