Merfolk
It was said that it was the Merfolk who were the first inhabitants of Cirra'liel as they were the children of Nepphora, the god who holds dominion over the waters. It was said that Cirra'liel began with the first Siren's Song. The waves danced to his melody and the mountains rose from beneath the sea. When the siren's symphony was complete, an island of only rock was born....one that would be Cirra'liel.
From the foam birthed the Merfolk...both males and females of such great beauty that Nepphora wept with a father's pride. He would give them dominion over his seas and watch over them, becoming the very waves themselves. The origin of this song is a long kept secret of the water's inhabitants and only once a year do they gather in celebration and sing it to give praise to Nepphora.
Those that call the waters of Cirra'liel home now are vastly different, coming from all sorts of backgrounds and bloodlinesnsince the First Song. Some may never leave the waters, while others have abilities to transform their fins to legs and walk amongst the land-dwellers for a short period of time (7-8 hours a day). As with on land they come from many walks of life, and are not all of the same alignment, making things both balanced and chaotic in the merfolk kingdom.
